Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan’s life. Having missed her flight, she’s stuck at JFK airport and late to her father’s second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon-to-be stepmother Hadley’s never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport’s cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he’s British, and he’s sitting in her row.
A long night on the plane passes in the blink of an eye, and Hadley and Oliver lose track of each other in the airport chaos upon arrival. Can fate intervene to bring them together once more?
Quirks of timing play out in this romantic and cinematic novel about family connections, second chances, and first loves. Set over a twenty-four-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver’s story will make you believe that true love finds you when you’re least expecting it.
Some believe that everything happens for a reason. In this beautifully crafted love story four minutes change a girls life.
Hadley’s story starts with her rushing through the airport. She’s on her way to her father’s wedding and he is not marrying her mom. Hadley is angry and dreading the whole trip. Not only has her father betrayed her mother but he’s also been absent from her life since he moved to London to be with his mistress. Hadley’s day could not get any worse, but it does. She misses her flight and is stuck in JFK until the next flight to London, which could potentially make her miss the wedding.
Then she meets Oliver. He’s hot, British, and is siting in her row.
Jennifer has created two opposite characters that go through dramatic growth in such a short period of time. Some how she made it work. Hadley starts off angry at how her life has turned out. Growing up in a broken home has become normal to many, but she would rather have had her father stick around and try to work things out with her mom. On the other hand Oliver wishes his dad had left. He hated all the lying and manipulation his family had to go through. But who were they kidding? Everyone knew the truth.
Two broken hearts find each other in the most unexpected place. They lean on each other and find comfort in each other’s company. But this comfort is short lived and they are forced to separate as soon as they reach their destination.
Next time you travel make sure you pick this book up. It’s light hearted and dramatic all in one package. The love story is sweet and innocent. And the writing is simply brilliant.
