Sometimes you just have to take flight.
A summer in New Orleans is exactly what Allie needs before starting college. Accepting her dad’s invitation to work at his hotel offers an escape from her ex-boyfriend and the chance to spend the summer with her best friend. Meeting a guy is the last thing on her mind—until she sees Levi.
Unable to resist the infuriating yet alluring Levi, Allie finds herself at the center of a supernatural society and forced to decide between following the path she has always trusted or saving a city that might just save her.
Flight is fantastic, fun, and far more mysterious than expected! Alyssa Rose Ivy creates the perfect blend of fantasy and paranormal romance as the story follows college-bound Allie as she discovers a beautiful love, New Orleans, and a hidden world straight out of a fairy tale.
The story is an incredibly quick read once readers become hooked on Allie and her insatiable love interest, Levi. Allie is a quick character to fall for, even though she is sometimes stubborn and thoroughly independent. Though readers may become quickly lost between the pages of Flight, and the characters’ entertaining interactions, Ivy consistently keeps the story at a medium pace. Quick enough to read without breaks, but just slow enough connect with the characters.
Ivy’s ability to build suspense is unique because she doesn’t keep readers guessing for too long. There isn’t a long wait for secrets to be revealed, so readers don’t have the chance to lose interest while the characters are stuck gesturing and hinting about big revelations. The real, more intriguing mystery lies within the paranormal community of Allie’s world. Truly, Flight is only the beginning and just touches the surface of what will be learned about Levi and his paranormal background. As Flight winds down, the plot involves more of the paranormal dangers that Allie will face in coming novels.
The ending is just right as it leaves readers hanging on the heart-breaking last words spoken. The intense scenes leading to the conclusion of Flight add to the momentum Ivy will undoubtedly use to throw readers into the next Crescent Chronicles installment, Focus.
